Job Summary
Reporting to the Head of CG, the Senior FX Artist creates high quality dynamic and riveting visual 3D FX including rigid body and particle dynamics, volumetric simulation and rendering, procedural geometry generation and fluid dynamics. This role places a strong emphasis on demonstrated expertise in water FX, particularly in simulating and rendering realistic water behaviour within complex environments.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and animate high quality, photo-real effects (fire, smoke, water, explosions, debris, clouds, etc) that meet all technical and aesthetic standards for the project.
- Work within the show structure and production deadlines to complete all tasks
- Collaborate with Production, Supervisors and creative teams to proactively identify and solve technical and creative challenges.
- Work closely with Lighting Artist and Compositors to ensure all effects will work smoothly within the show pipeline.
- Produce look tests based on provided reference materials.
- Provides guidance and mentorship to other FX Artists.
- Participate in dailies, rounds, team reviews of work in progress.
- Help promote a positive, productive, and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications and Essential Skills
- 3+ years experience as an FX Artist creating photorealistic effects elements for television and feature films
- A degree in Animation, Arts, Fine Arts or equivalent production experience
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics a plus
- Expert knowledge of Houdini
- Expert knowledge of rigid body and particle dynamics, volumetric simulation and rendering, procedural geometry generation and fluid dynamics
- Strong understanding of physical dynamics and natural phenomena
- Firm understanding of visual effects production pipelines
