Beacon Community Services is a community-based charity delivering compassionate and innovative community services to foster self-sufficiency, volunteerism, and well-being. Our dedicated team includes about 260 staff and 600 volunteers, who help people and empower communities on Southern Vancouver Island and the Outer Gulf Islands. We offer a wide range of programs and services, including children, youth and family services, support for seniors, employment services, counseling, housing and shelter services, thrift shops, and various volunteer services.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Director of Finance located in Victoria, BC. The Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. This role involves managing financial risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to senior management. The Director of Finance will also supervise the finance team, manage accounts payable and receivable, and collaborate with other departments to support operational and strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Proficiency in financial reporting, risk management, and regulatory compliance
  • Skills in leadership, team management, and communication
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Proficiency with financial software and tools
  • Relevant credentials such as a CPA or other professional accounting designation
  • Experience in the non-profit sector is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
