YOUR DAY TO DAY:

The Extended Interaction Klystron (EIK) Team is seeking an experienced Machinist/Tool & Die Maker to support the fabrication of precision components used in advanced electronic and RF systems. This role is ideal for a highly skilled tradesperson who enjoys working on complex, ultra-precision parts, prototype development, and advanced manufacturing processes including additive manufacturing and ceramic-to-metal joining.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering to develop manufacturable designs, build precision fixtures, and support production of high-performance products used in demanding communications and space applications.

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR/TO:

Precision Manufacturing

  • Perform ultra-precision machining operations including milling, turning, grinding, and EDM
  • Manufacture tight-tolerance components and assemblies (up to ±0.0002”)
  • Operate and maintain precision machining equipment

Advanced Fabrication

  • Perform metal joining processes including brazing, welding, and bonding
  • Fabricate metal-to-metal and metal-to-ceramic assemblies
  • Support additive manufacturing (3D printing) and prototype development

Engineering Collaboration

  • Work closely with Design Engineering to improve manufacturability
  • Design and fabricate jigs, fixtures, and tooling
  • Provide input during product development and prototyping

Process Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement and improve manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Identify root causes and resolve manufacturing issues
  • Support development of new fabrication techniques and tooling solutions

Production & Documentation Support

  • Maintain manufacturing documentation including:
    • operation sheets
    • inspection schedules
    • drawings
  • Support ERP / PLM systems for revision control and BOM updates
  • Liaise with vendors and internal departments to support production

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:

  • Trade background Licensed Mold Making/General Machinist/Tool and Die maker

  • Manufacturing diploma or degree. Mechanical background would be an asset

  • 5+ years of experience in precision machining or toolmaking

  • Capability to work within +/- 0.0002”

  • Capability to work under microscopes or precision inspection equipment

  • Attention to detail and craftmanship

  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software

  • Experience with EDM, brazing, or advanced fabrication techniques considered an asset

  • Organized, self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Good written and oral communication

  • Must be able to meet CGP requirements
