About the role

Position description

The Graduate Studies Program at Mount Allison University invites applicants to teach a graduate level course on Applications in Elemental Analysis (BIOL/CHEM 5991) for MSc students in Biology and Chemistry during the Winter 2026 term. Topics may include an overview of applications, sample preparation, calibration and standards, QA/QC, methods documentation, communication of results and/or other technical and scientific skills. The course format will be in-person, with a hands-on component using campus infrastructure, specifically the elemental analyzer and isotope ratio mass spectrometer within the Environmental Analytics and Stable Isotope Laboratory (EASIL). This is a stipendiary (part-time) appointment. The 3 credit hour course (integrated lecture/lab) will span 13 weeks. The anticipated class size is approximately 5 to 10 students.

The successful applicant will have a graduate degree (MSc or PhD) in biology, chemistry, environmental science, or a related discipline and experience using a mass spectrometer and/or elemental analyzer.
