Job Summary
The Industrial Engineer will play a key role in optimizing production and facility maintenance operations across ready-mix concrete plants throughout the Atlantic provinces. This role combines industrial engineering principles with hands-on plant, project and asset management. The Industrial Engineer will handle day-to-day facility operations, supporting various departments, maintaining records, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with regulations to create a safe and productive work environment. The ideal candidate will bring sound technical knowledge of building systems and plant equipment, an organized approach, and a strong focus on reliability, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning and implementing a variety of projects, including building repairs, both planned and unplanned maintenance, and installation of new equipment
- Creating and maintaining electronic libraries of facilities and equipment information
- Design and implement preventative maintenance programs and inspection protocols for plant equipment assets
- Obtain pricing for facility improvement items and equipment, writing material and service requisitions
- Coordinate repair activities with internal maintenance teams and external vendors to ensure minimal disruption to operations
- Assist in developing and managing maintenance and capital budgets, including forecasting for equipment replacement / rebuilds and upgrades
- Monitor industry trends in concrete production and; recommend upgrades and technology improvements
- Conduct time and workflow studies to optimize plant throughput, truck dispatching, and personnel utilization
- Maintain process documentation and share performance insights with plant managers and operations leadership
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Additional duties as assigned
Technical Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Strong knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards
- Proficiency in programs such as Microsoft Office 365, [CY1] , with exposure to other engineering related Manufacturing Resource Planning (“MRP”) software being an asset
- Previous experience in construction / manufacturing considered an asset

- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience with time management and creating Key Performance Indicators (“KPI’s”)
- Desire to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and customer-focused environment
- Ability to travel based on business demands

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with individuals of diverse backgrounds & disciplines, including various levels of management
- A team player with the desire to work collaboratively with others to improve existing processes
