ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Program Manager Solid Waste & Diversion, this position is responsible for the development, coordination, oversight, and maintenance of data and reports in support of the Region’s waste audit programs. Also responsible for compiling, collection, documenting, analyzing, and reporting on qualitative and quantitative research from multiple systems. Provides support with budget tracking, procurement activities, and coordinating projects.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Organizes and oversees waste audits at Region owned and other waste management facilities.

  • Maintains databases and dashboards including data verification, data upload, data sharing, and data presentation.

  • Collaborates with the external and internal partners to resolve conflicts, support data analyses requests, and reports on findings to inform waste policy decision making and/or master plan implementation and evaluation.

  • Prepares, develops, and maintains accurate reports through analyses and summarizing of data and information from multiple systems.

  • Compiles data for management in preparation of KPI's, budget and forecasting activity; analyzes results to identify trends and variances.

  • Reviews and reports on data, investigates issues and provides further information to management, as requested.

  • Prepares contract documents and purchase orders for authorization, ensures all documents are properly executed prior to commencement of work.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Environmental Studies, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years business support experience in a project management/capital project office environment, including data analysis, contract management, tracking, report writing and related business support, coordination, and implementation activities.
  • Knowledge of budgets, budget tracking, data tracking, report generation and project management software.
  • Knowledge of waste reduction, reuse and diversion programs, waste-related metrics/KPIs, related research and evaluation methods.
  • Demonstrated skills in data management and analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with a range of internal and external partners while focusing on fostering collaborative work relationships.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Standards, Acts and Regulations including waste management legislation, procedures, protocols, provincial waste auditing protocols and related acts.
  • Ability to demonstrate the Region corporate core competencies.
  • Strong ability to develop relationships and work in welcoming and inclusive environment, where diversity is celebrated and where everyone can develop to their full potential.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams and with ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Advanced skills Microsoft Office suite, include spreadsheet applications, database software and knowledge of virtual platforms.
  • Investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills to research issues and recommend solutions.
  • Solid report writing and presentation skills to deliver information to varied audiences.
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license free of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act.
