In Cornerbrook, NFLD:

Reporting to the Manager, Fleet, the Vehicle Transporter is a key part of the System Support team that provides vehicle movement pertaining to provincial system vehicle transport for maintenance and repair requirements.

The Vehicle Transporter is expected to conduct him/herself in a safe and prudent manor. The Vehicle Transporter will be largely responsible to ensure ambulances are transported to the designated fleet centers and/or stations as assigned. The Vehicle Transporter is a casual position and is on an on-call basis and will take direction from the Manager, Fleet or designate. This position can be cross-trained as a System Support Fleet Supply Technician on an individual voluntary basis and utilized in the Fleet Centre's to provide shift back-fill for vacations, medical leaves, and operational requirement.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Transport ambulances to designated fleet centers and/or stations, as assigned.
  • Ensure vehicles that are transported to bases are washed down of road debris.
  • Always interact professionally with MHSNL and NLHS stakeholders.
  • Operate all system and company vehicles in accordance with Newfoundland and Labrador laws as well as all applicable Policies and Procedures and Safe Work Practices of MHSNL and NLHS.
  • Any other duties assigned.

Professional Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Will be required to have a minimum Class 4 driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Acquire and maintain certification in WHIMIS.
  • Successfully complete the MHSNL Driving Safety Program.
  • Successfully completion of orientation program as defined for the roles specific to Safety Programs including PPE and Safe Work Practice Policies.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess and demonstrate good interpersonal skills in dealing with people and working in groups.
  • Demonstrate and display excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate good decision-making skills and takes initiative, as needed.
  • Has the ability to work alone with minimal supervision. Exercises a degree of discretion and independent judgement.
