Senior Tax Analyst – Contract
Location: Grimsby, Ontario
Contract: August 24, 2026 to June 27, 2027 Work Arrangement: Hybrid Hours: 40 hours per week
Schedule: Flexible start time between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
Our client, a well-established organization located in the East Niagara Region, is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Analyst to join its Canadian Tax Team.
The successful candidate will report to the Manager, Corporate Tax and work closely with the Manager, Indirect Tax. This position will be responsible for Canadian corporate tax compliance, tax accounting, transfer pricing, tax audits and process improvement initiatives.
The position will require more frequent onsite attendance during onboarding and training. Once fully trained, the successful candidate will typically be required to work onsite approximately one day per week.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare Canadian corporate income tax returns and supporting schedules. Coordinate the transfer pricing reporting process and review submissions for completeness and accuracy. Prepare Canadian transfer pricing reports and coordinate the execution of intercompany agreements. Review and prepare current and deferred tax provision entries and forecasts. Calculate quarterly tax provision estimates. Support commodity tax reporting and remittance activities. Assist with tax audits by gathering documentation and preparing detailed responses for tax authorities. Conduct tax research and document conclusions regarding complex tax matters. Analyze tax positions across different jurisdictions and recommend tax-effective strategies. Maintain clear documentation and audit trails for tax filings and supporting information. Document policies, procedures and workflows for assigned areas of responsibility. Participate in system implementations, automation initiatives and process improvement projects. Assess the tax implications of business decisions and provide guidance to internal stakeholders. Support and provide guidance to less-experienced team members.
Qualifications
More than eight years of accounting, finance or taxation experience, including experience within a large corporate environment. At least one year of dedicated Canadian corporate income tax or commodity tax experience. A minimum of two years of specialized tax experience is strongly preferred. Professional accounting designation is required. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, taxation or a related discipline. Experience preparing Canadian corporate income tax returns. Experience with tax provisions, tax accounting entries and tax audits. Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions. Advanced Microsoft Excel and general computer skills. Excellent organizational and planning abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with transfer pricing reporting and intercompany agreements. Knowledge of commodity or indirect taxes. Experience working with SAP. Experience with data analytics, reporting or automation tools. Previous experience supporting or mentoring junior team members.
