Position Highlights Our Enterprise Risk Management Department is currently seeking an experienced Risk Consultant who will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our professional team. We are seeking an independent critical thinker, who can also effectively collaborate with other key stakeholders to manage and identify enterprise risks across the organization. In this role, you will drive a culture of creativity, innovation, and collaboration.
This role involves regular interactions with senior management, hence will require individuals with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the organization while constructively guiding management on governance, risk, and controls.
What would your day look like in this role?
- Provide risk advisory services towards business strategy and major projects/initiatives to ensure that significant risks are appropriately identified and addressed.
- Facilitate the identification of emerging risks and provide objective challenge on the adequacy of response plans which make up a key component of the risk barometer that govern ICBC’s risk management activities.
- Perform root cause analysis of significant risk incidents/events and recommend solutions to senior management to minimize future risk exposure.
- Guide senior management in building and maintaining a risk dashboard with key risk indicators (KRI) that are pertinent to managing the risk profile of the business, including establishing appropriate appetite and tolerances.
- Perform risk and control assessment (RCA) to identify areas of risk exposure that may interfere with the objective of the business and recommend improvements to control effectiveness.
- Promote a culture of risk awareness within the organization through training, workshops and communication on risk topics.
- Other duties as the role may require.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, and/or Process Engineering.
- 5+ years of relevant risk management and industry experience.
- Knowledge of the principles, concepts and practices of risk management.
- Applicable designations (CPA, CRM) or other relevant designations would be an asset.
- Understanding of how key risks and controls impact the business from an enterprise-wide perspective.
- Solid business knowledge in financial institution and/or relevant industries would be desired.
- Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, strategic thinking and problem solving skills required.
- Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues using well developed discretion and judgement.
- Knowledge of the standards and practices of change management and/or internal audit.

Work Arrangements Defined
- Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
ICBC provides comprehensive benefit coverage to all eligible employees including a defined benefit pension plan and 4 weeks’ vacation, plus 3 Wellness Days per year.

- Sick leave plan – 100% of pay for a period of a maximum of 8 weeks
