About the role

Communications Lead, BC Health Workday

Role Summary

In accordance with the Purpose, Vision, Values and Coast Salish Teachings, and strategic directions of PHSA, safety, including both patient and employee safety, is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA. As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The BC Health Workday Program is a provincial initiative with seven participating BC health organizations (FHA, IHA, ISLH, NHA, PHC, PHSA and VCHA). The program began in 2023 to implement a Human Capital Management System (HCMS) software solution as part of the BC Health Human Resources Strategy to transform HR services. Designed by Workday Canada, the new provincial platform will replace existing HR and payroll systems in the health organizations with a single, unified technical system that will standardize and modernize HR and payroll services. It is a significant transformation in BC and is vital to the sustainability of BC’s health system.

The Communications Lead is responsible for providing advice and communications services in the provincial BC Health Workday program (software implementation), to all the Health Authorities, and to other regional partners, and (internal and external) interested parties. Reporting to the Manager, Communications & Training, the Communications Lead develops and supports implementation of a comprehensive communication strategy, establishes evaluation benchmarks, leads implementation of communication and engagement strategies, including brand and related tactics, creates and/or contributes content, and provides expert guidance to colleagues in producing effective communications materials for and related to the BC Health Workday program. The Communications Lead develops strategy and plans, and delivers a coordinated action plan to ensure regional communications are high-quality, accurate, consistent, targeted to various audiences and/or impacted or interested groups, and facilitate change while maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external partners and interested parties.

  • Leads communication and engagement activities in conjunction with BC Health Workday program Change, Communications, Training & Transformation team, governance committees, project leaders, and Health Authority and other interested parties, including end users of the Workday software. Maintains awareness of new developments and trends in communications through literature review, contact with peers at other organizations, advisory groups and professional associations, and if authorized, through education programs.
