Deck City specializes in building high-quality outdoor and enclosed living spaces, including custom decks, pergolas, sunrooms and other residential structures.

We are looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter who can take ownership of projects, lead a small crew and maintain a high standard of workmanship from the beginning of a build through completion.

This position is suited to a skilled carpenter who enjoys custom residential construction, can confidently make on-site decisions and wants the responsibility and earning potential that come with a leadership role.

What We Offer $32–$42 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability Full-time, permanent, year-round employment Monday-to-Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. No regular weekend work Occasional overtime Two to four weeks of vacation, depending on experience Planned company shutdown of approximately two to three weeks over Christmas Extended health, dental, vision and life insurance after three months Annual wage increases Opportunities for advancement Custom residential projects located within Winnipeg Professional, organized and safety-conscious job sites

Your Responsibilities Build custom decks, pergolas, sunrooms and related residential structures Lead and supervise a crew of approximately two carpenters or construction workers Review and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications Complete layout, framing, exterior finishing and installation work Organize daily job-site activities and assign work to crew members Keep projects progressing efficiently and according to schedule Identify construction challenges and make practical on-site decisions Monitor workmanship and ensure completed work meets Deck City’s standards Guide, support and mentor less-experienced crew members Communicate professionally with supervisors, team members and homeowners Help coordinate materials and daily project requirements Maintain clean, safe and organized residential job sites

What We Are Looking For Several years of hands-on residential carpentry or renovation experience Strong experience with framing, deck construction and exterior finishing Previous experience leading carpenters or organizing daily job-site work Ability to read plans, complete layout and plan the stages of a build Ability to work independently with limited supervision Strong construction problem-solving and decision-making skills High attention to detail and pride in finished workmanship Dependable attendance and professional conduct Valid Manitoba driver’s licence Reliable personal vehicle for travelling to Winnipeg job sites Clear English communication skills for planning, safety and homeowner interaction

Red Seal certification is not required. Equivalent hands-on residential construction experience will be considered.

Additional Assets Experience building custom or high-end residential projects Experience constructing sunrooms, additions, pergolas or complex decks Experience coordinating materials and project requirements Experience mentoring or training junior carpenters Compensation The position pays $32–$42 per hour, based on demonstrated carpentry ability, leadership experience and the level of responsibility the successful applicant can take on. Applicants considered at the upper end of the range should be able to independently organize and lead residential builds, interpret plans, troubleshoot job-site issues and guide a small crew. Deck City provides annual wage increases and opportunities to advance as responsibilities and capabilities grow.
