As a Registered Nurse in Pediatrics with VCH you will:
- Focus on the care of pediatric patients, recognizing that children have unique healthcare needs that require specialized knowledge and expertise.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient/ client care.
- Participate in discharge planning, function as a client advocate and teach clients/families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness.
- Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the client/family.
- Document care provided and respond to incidents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Consult, confer and collaborate with other health care providers.
- Maintain and advance own clinical competence.
- Participate on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

Eligibility for the post-basic training education is prioritized to applicants with two years recent acute med/surg experience upon Pediatric Emergency program full-time start date . Preference to applicants with high-acuity training.
BCIT Pediatric Emergency Nursing Specialty Program
BCIT Onsite Orientation: Nov. 20, 2026
Online Prequisites Dates: Dec. 1, 2025 - Mar. 30, 2026
BCIT Workshop Days (Paid): Dec.1,2,4 & 5, 2025
Exam Days (Paid): Dec. 8, 2025 & Mar. 30, 2026
Full-time training at BCIT & practicum locations: Jan. 5, 2026 - Apr. 2, 2026

course dates will be modified based on previous courses completed. VCH only funds for required courses.*
Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.
Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.
This will ensure that candidates are able to consolidate and apply skills in the specialty area that VCH has supported and funded candidates to complete. In the event that a candidate leaves the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they were hired or VCH in under 18 months, VCH will seek to recover the cost of the program.
Salary Details
The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. - CAD $55.91/Hr.
