Position Summary

The Social Worker promotes the emotional health and well-being of Woodview clients by providing mental health counselling, assessment, treatment, education, and support services for children, adolescents, and families. This role delivers individual and group counselling, family therapy, supports treatment planning in partnership with families, assists families in connecting with resources, and provides crisis support as required. The Social Worker may also provide practical training and guidance for students or other staff. The Social Worker must be able to work autonomously within a multi-agency team context.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Clinical service delivery: Provide strength-based, collaborative mental health services for children, adolescents, and families (intake/choice, assessment, case management, individual/family counselling, urgent counselling, group counselling, and community education/presentations).

  • Assessment & treatment planning: Complete assessments and develop individualized, goal-focused treatment plans in partnership with clients and caregivers; adjust plans as needs evolve.

  • Family support & resource navigation: Support families to identify needs, strengthen coping/parenting strategies, and connect with appropriate internal and community resources.

  • Crisis response & risk support: Provide timely support during periods of increased risk/safety concerns, following agency protocols and collaborating with relevant partners as needed.

  • Documentation & compliance: Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and reports in accordance with Woodview policies/procedures and applicable standards.

  • Team collaboration & supervision: Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and regular supervision; remain accessible and accountable to the multidisciplinary team and community partners.

  • Flexible service delivery: Provide services in formats that meet client needs, which may include evening/weekend appointments, family sessions, and group work.

  • Confidentiality & professionalism: Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role (written, verbal, and implied) and demonstrate sound judgment, self-direction, and professional boundaries.

Qualifications:

  • BSW or MSW and registration with OCSWSSW, or Master’s in a related field with membership in the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or equivalent pertinent work experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in children’s mental health, including assessment and treatment planning, solution-focused/brief therapy, case management, crisis intervention, group and family therapy

  • Knowledge of DBT and CBT (required)

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with clients and families with complex needs (including anxiety, depression, and self-harm)

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; sound judgment and self-direction

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team

  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle; ability to transport clients

  • Police Check including Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)

Assets:

  • Experience with Single Session Therapy; knowledge of services in the Brantford/Brant community

  • Current First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification

  • Second language (French)

Additional Information:

  • This position includes some evening and possibility of weekend hours to support family sessions and group work.
