Responsibilities

To report directly to the Regional Manager – Ontario and communicate all relevant matters pertaining to internal and external sales / marketing activities on behalf of the company.

  • To assume full accountability for account development within an assigned District, develop and source leads, upsell existing accounts and continually prospect for new business opportunities with potential customers.
  • To manage all territory sales activities for Lincoln Electric products.
  • To effectively sell to major accounts, distributors, consulting engineering firms, established customer accounts and prospective customers.
  • To prepare and submit annual budgets, strategic plans, estimates and forecasts in conjunction with ongoing business requirements, priorities, policies and procedures.
  • To liaise with and collaborate with senior managers, line and non-management staff at all levels across the company in an advisory capacity on matters pertaining to:
    • Sales
    • Materials
    • Marketing
    • Manufacturing
    • Product Development
    • Pricing
    • Market Research
    • Warehouse/Inventory
    • Customer Service/Order Desk

Responsibilities (Continued)

  • To continually recommend initiatives and take proactive responsibility for district marketing and sales activities.
  • To prepare analysis of competitive products and selling techniques, conduct customer research activities, and continually solicit customer needs, on an ongoing basis, as well as, analyze competitive sales budgets, quotas, pricing and distribution strategies.
  • To obtain “the best” positioning of company products (displays) with distributors at point-of-purchase sites ensuring maximum exposure and promotion of company products.
  • To work with established company marketing and pricing literature and modify these within the district to ensure customers and potential customers are well informed.
  • To conduct on-site product training sessions and seminars for customers, distributors, and operators (in a safe manner), as well as, co-ordinating presentations at Lincoln’s own company demonstration
    facilities (working out all logistics including: rental of necessary facilities, presentation equipment, set-up of welding procedures, product lines, marketing literature, and pricing information, to ensure well co-ordinated technical presentations.).
  • To continually provide technical support to all customers, build strong relationships and work with distributors with respect to their inventories, inventory turns and margins, recommending appropriate pricing strategies and managing accounts according to account sales volumes.
  • To participate actively in industry trade shows, arrange floor space and displays and to represent company products in a professional manner distributing marketing information and conducting demonstrations as required.
  • To attend ongoing product training sessions at the company corporate headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio and Toronto (as required) and continually stay abreast of developments in the industry with a view to enhancing all sales activities.
  • To attend sales meetings and seminars, maintain accurate and up-to-date monthly expense reports, call record (sales), mileage reports, sales budgets, submit account reports as well as the top 30 largest account report.
  • To troubleshoot customer concerns, product returns, service and repairs through the co-ordination and administration of warranties.
  • To continually monitor performance against budgeted objectives and to modify sales strategies accordingly.

  • To establish and maintain progressive relations with customers and suppliers, and actively participate in company sanctioned industry associations.
  • To maintain a high profile posture on behalf of the company through tactful administration of public relations and excellence in the execution of presentations, sales meetings, trade shows and follow-up meetings.
  • To participate co-operatively as an employee within the company Performance Appraisal Process and Merit Rating System.
  • To actively participate in company, staff or individual one-on-one meetings on an ongoing basis for the purposes of effective teamwork, enhanced communication and progressive co-operation strategies within the department as well as other departments across the company.
  • To continually contribute to the profitability of the company and ongoing business operations by initiating, recommending and implementing continuous improvement strategies and initiatives.
  • To fully abide and actively support Lincoln Electric’s Environmental Health & Safety policies, practices and procedures with respect to protecting the environment, the conservation of nature resources and the Health & Safety of all employees.
  • To conduct any general duties, specific projects and responsibilities as assigned or required by the Regional Manager – Ontario in a timely and professional manner.

Position Requirement & Factors

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering field OR 3 year welding related Community College Diploma
  • Ability to relocate to SW Ontario area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Technical Sales or similar industry position.

  • Above-average sales performance over the last three + years.

  • Organized, self-motivated, assertive, and independent.
