About the role
This project seeks a talented 3D Animator to produce a 7–10 minute animated short film that blends heartfelt storytelling with educational and fantasy elements. The film aims to raise awareness about chronic illness, specifically lupus, by creating an emotionally impactful and visually engaging experience for audiences of all ages. The animation style should be professional, expressive, and cinematic, featuring detailed character design, immersive environments, and smooth, polished animation. The completed film will be used for festival submissions, streaming platform pitches, and as a portfolio piece for the filmmaker.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full 3D animation production process, including modeling, rigging, texturing, lighting, and animation
- Collaborate closely with the screenwriter to interpret the script and bring characters and environments to life
- Develop expressive character animations and cinematic sequences that convey emotional depth and narrative clarity
- Design and build detailed, immersive environments that enhance the storytelling
- Ensure all animation assets meet high standards for quality and consistency
- Manage project timelines and deliverables to meet festival and streaming platform requirements
- Provide regular progress updates and incorporate feedback throughout the production process
Skills And Requirements
- Proven experience in 3D animation for short films or similar narrative projects
- Expertise in industry-standard 3D software (e.g., Maya, Blender, Cinema 4D)
- Strong skills in modeling, rigging, texturing, lighting, and rendering
- Ability to create expressive character animation and cinematic visual storytelling
- Experience with detailed environment design and world-building
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage full production workflow and meet deadlines
- Portfolio demonstrating high-quality 3D animation work, preferably with narrative or educational content
- Availability to begin upon script completion and copyright confirmation
- Experience with festival or streaming platform submission standards is a plus
