Summary: In this position, you will report to the Materials and Process Technology (M&PT) Manager. As the M&PT Intern, you will be assigned short and long-term work assignments, under supervision of an M&PT Senior Engineer and/or M&PT Technologist, in areas of metallurgy, destructive testing, chemical processing and research & development.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform periodic coating evaluations of High Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF) applied hard coatings.
- Perform periodic electroplated coating evaluations.
- Operate tensile testing equipment, scanning electron microscope, optical microscope, and hardness testers independently.
- Assist in conducting metallurgical failure analysis of in-service aircraft landing gear components and parts in a laboratory setting.
- Prepare reports and present regular project status updates.
- Conduct statistical analysis of tensile, fracture toughness and fatigue data.
- Adherence to safety and quality policies.
- Foster strong internal customer relationships through accountability, transparency, and credibility.
- Support special projects and perform other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in a University Bachelor’s program in Materials Science and Engineering (preferred), Nanotechnology Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Successful candidate must meet all requirements under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Controlled Goods Directorate (CGD). Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Courses in thermodynamics, mechanics of materials, electron microscopy, and/or crystallography, is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for advancing human flight
