About the role

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Support Manager to play a pivotal role in the establishment and launch of a new and innovative initiative: the NHS Lanarkshire psychological therapies research and training clinic, based at the University of Strathclyde. The partnership between NHS Lanarkshire and the University of Strathclyde will establish a psychological therapies research and teaching clinic, located at the University but serving residents of Lanarkshire.

A key responsibility of the role will be leading the development and implementation of robust, governance-complaint NHS systems within the University setting, including NHS/University ethics compliance processes for data collection. The post holder will also provide high-level managerial provision to the Clinic Director and Lead Clinician. This includes project management oversight and reporting on the progress of the innovation; alongside overseeing budget planning and management, ensuring financial accountability and adherence to agreed resources.

This post is on a fixed term six month basis (0.6wte) and would suit a secondment NHS Lanarkshire

What we'll need you to bring

  • To provide a full clinical support service, including project management, business management, budget management, vacancy management, and administrative services management, to the Clinic Director and Lead Clinician.
  • To take lead responsibility for collation and analysis of waiting time performance data, and providing interpretation and reports to the Clinic Director and Lead Clinician.
  • To manage vacancies, long-term sickness absence, and maternity leave across the service, including submission of recruitment documentation, and liaison with HR Recruitment.
  • To take lead responsibility for specific projects as identified by the Clinic Director from time to time, and represent Psychological Services on these at a variety of levels in NHS Lanarkshire and in relation to partner agencies.
  • To support the Clinic Director in order to ensure the Service meets its clinical and research governance standards and the requirements of NHS Lanarkshire.
  • Participate as a key member of the Psychological Services Professional Leadership Team (PLT) in order to implement the strategic aims of the service.
  • The post-holder will contribute to the development and operation of Strategy across Lanarkshire, linking with partner agencies, especially North & South Lanarkshire Council as required.
  • The post-holder will provide a high level of managerial support to the Clinic Director and Lead Clinician

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

  • Experience of working within Psychological Services/Mental Health settings.

Contract type

Fixed Term or Secondment for 6 months

Part Time

22.2 hours

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Please note this is a fixed term post for a period of 6 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Mental Health & Learning Disabilities within Strathclyde University .
