The Community Standards Branch is looking for a Strategic Business Analyst to help anticipate and plan for the future of our operations. In this role, you will focus on continuous improvement and innovation, ensuring our workflows remain efficient and aligned with evolving legislation and policies. You will be a key player in implementing new systems and balancing the needs of various interested and affected parties within a fiscally responsible framework. What will you do?
- Conduct comprehensive business process reviews, documenting current enforcement processes and workflows using modelling techniques like swimlanes and process flows
- Identify and document gaps between current and target processes, recommending innovative solutions to eliminate redundant or low-value tasks
- Collaborate with internal business partners to ensure business readiness for software and change deployments, such as POSSE or CAD
- Create and maintain advanced dashboards, data visualizations, and statistical mapping to provide a clear picture of results and investments
- Coordinate end-user testing for configuration changes and data corrections, ensuring system solutions meet business requirements before release
- Assist in standardizing data collection and management procedures to maximize the efficiency of reporting systems
- Support branch leadership in identifying and prioritizing annual projects and initiatives that advance service delivery
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- University degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Public Administration, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of related work experience
Assets:
- Experience working within an enforcement environment
- Professional certification in Project Management
- Professional certification in Business Analysis
Skills required for success:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business needs into actionable solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored for diverse audiences, including technical teams and leadership
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and initiatives in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with collaboration and business analysis tools such as Draw.io, Google Sheets, and Appscript
- Strong facilitation and negotiation skills to engage effectively with interested and affected parties
- Ability to interpret technical documents and specifications to ensure they align with business requirements

Conditions of Employment:

Work Environment:
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
