The Community Engagement team is a part of the Fundraising and Communications Department at Fred

Victor and is responsible for the Volunteer Program, all Fundraising Events, and support of Community

Events.

What You Will Do:
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Community Engagement and working collaboratively with other

members of the Fred Victor Fundraising and Communications Team, the Event Coordinator is passionate

about events. They promote a culture of community engagement that leads to increased awareness,

engagement, and revenue.

The Event Coordinator provides support to the Senior Manager of Community Engagement in delivering Fred

Victor’s key fundraising events: Fred’s Walk and Street Eats. They will also support the wider Community

Engagement Team in the areas of community events (including Taste of Regent Park), growing the 3rd party

revenue stream, and assisting with team volunteer events and drives.

Events

  • Support with event planning, logistics, and execution for Fred’s Walk (June 4th) and Street Eats (October

7th)

  • Maintain inventory of event equipment and supplies, sourcing items needed when necessary

  • Support with securing prizes and awards for events – raffles/auctions

  • Coordinating (from ask to delivery) event GIK donations when necessary

  • Support 3rd party fundraisers and events when needed

  • Implement tasks relating to growing the 3rd party revenue stream such as research and identify potential

prospects for 3rd party fundraising

Community Engagement

  • Lead set up and tear down of all equipment at Taste of Regent Park event
  • Support a robust and growing Volunteer Program, to cultivate a strong culture of volunteerism at Fred

Victor

  • Run Team Volunteer events
  • Supervising volunteers at events.
  • Support with other aspects of Taste of Regent Park, working with the Taste of Regent Park Coordinator
  • Support with logistics relating to Fred Victor’s involvement other community events (Indigenous People’s

Day, Cabbagetown Festival)

  • Support Manager of Volunteer Engagement with team volunteer events, organizing and sourcing supplies

needed, helping to co-lead events

  • Support the GIK program when needed
  • Support with external organizations rental of Fred Victor’s event equipment

General

  • Participate in learning networks and professional associations
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Support and attend all Fred Victor fundraising, stewardship and cultivation events
  • Other duties as required

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Degree from a relevant university program is an asset (equivalencies will be considered)

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with community engagement, event coordination, and/or community

outreach

  • Demonstrated experience leading key aspects of an event
  • Experience working in communities where people face economic and social barriers and marginalization
  • Experience supervising volunteers
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet firm deadlines
  • Detail-oriented and excellent administrative skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, and experienced in using databases

What Sets You Apart:

  • Experience with project management tools (Microsoft Planner)
  • Experience with Donor Database management systems (Raisers Edge NXT)
  • Experience with public speaking and giving presentations
  • Experience with Square POS systems
  • Experience with peer-to-peer fundraising or other 3rd party fundraising

Working Conditions:

This position will work out of 800 Bay Street, with occasional fundraising and team volunteer events at other sites.

On event days this position will be required to be onsite and dealing with contingencies and potentially outdoor

weather. Evening work will be required around event days (candidate must be available on Wednesday evenings

from Jul 8 – Sep 2). Event days can be long and physically demanding.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • For the Event Coordinator, Fred Victor offers an hourly rate between $32.63 - $36.03

  • 7% Vacation Pay
