This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time position working 75 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

This opportunity

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring, and quality assurance of maintenance and facility projects across all Long-Term Care (LTC) homes. The role ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building systems while providing leadership to the maintenance team, coordinating with other Government of Yukon departments, and external contractors.

Essential qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Recognized trade certification (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, power engineering) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Significant experience in facility maintenance or building operations, preferably in a healthcare, long-term care, or other institutional setting.
  • Experience supervising maintenance staff and coordinating multi-trade work.

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability

If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:

  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life-safety systems, and related regulatory requirements (e.g., CSA Z317 or equivalent standards).

  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, building system troubleshooting, and facility maintenance best practices.

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate maintenance and capital projects, including troubleshooting operational issues.

  • Effective leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality service, and minimizing disruption in a person-centered environment.

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

  • Valid Class 4 Driver’s Licence

  • WHMIS 2015

  • RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check

  • TB Test

  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification

Job requirements

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

  • Combination of office-based project management tasks and hands-on maintenance work.

  • Regular visits across multiple sites, involving walking, standing, lifting (50 lb) and use of tools and equipment.

  • Travel within territory.

  • Exposure to building systems (electrical, plumbing, mechanical) and construction activities.

  • Potential risks when working with tools, machinery, and contractors in active work zones.

  • Compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards is required to mitigate risks

  • Work conducted in a variety of environments.

  • Possible exposure to noise, dust, heat or cold, and unpleasant fumes, PPE to be worn according to regulation.

  • Regular interaction with clients, residents, and staff in sensitive care settings requiring professionalism and adaptability.

  • Potential exposure to second hand smoke, pet therapy program and latex products.
