About the role
Associated Ambulance IFT Red Deer is currently accepting expressions of interest for a PCP position available on the 12 hour truck. With a schedule that runs 4 days on 4 days off, within the hours of 0530-1730. This position reports directly to the Operations Supervisor or Regional Support Supervisor. The successful candidates will primarily be responsible for providing BLS and non-emergent transport support and will participate in a new hire orientation before entering the field. This includes a mentorship component with experienced staff members which is valuable for our providers to better adapt to the environments we operate in.

Position Summary
The Interfacility Transfer (IFT) provider is responsible for the safe, compassionate, and professional transport of patients between healthcare facilities. This role focuses on non-emergent and BLS-level care while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and continuity of care throughout transport. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, clinical competence, and professionalism while representing the organization positively within healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities

Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) care during interfacility and non-emergent patient transports

Safely operate and maintain ambulance vehicles and equipment in accordance with company policy and provincial regulations

Perform patient assessments, monitoring, and documentation as required

Communicate effectively with sending and receiving healthcare facilities to ensure continuity of care

Ensure accurate and timely completion of patient care records and transfer documentation

Maintain a clean, stocked, and service-ready unit

Participate in new hire orientation, ongoing training, and quality improvement initiatives
-
Adhere to all organizational policies, protocols, and safety standards
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited PCP program and active registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP)

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Must hold a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's license with an abstract indicating no serious traffic safety violations - abstract will be requested.

Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test was taken no more than six months before the start date.

Must provide (VSC) Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 3 months
Multiple positions may be awarded from this posting. And all PFT's are subject to a 3 month probationary period.
