Role Description The Shunt Driver is a full-time, on-site position based in Etobicoke, ON. In this role, the driver moves trailers and trucks within the yard and between designated loading docks to support efficient shipping, receiving, and production activities. Daily responsibilities include performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, safely maneuvering vehicles in tight spaces, and coordinating trailer placement with warehouse and operations staff. The Shunt Driver maintains accurate movement logs, follows all safety and regulatory requirements, and reports any mechanical or safety issues promptly. The role may also involve occasional interaction with carriers and vendors, supporting smooth inbound and outbound logistics.

Key Responsibilities

Drive truck to transport and deliver products or materials between locations. Maintain radio or telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched. Maintain truck logs in accordance with government regulations. Perform visual inspections of the vehicle to ensure safe operation. Clean, inspect, service, and safely operate assigned vehicles and equipment. Keep accurate records of materials and products transported. Complete driver logbooks, bills of lading, inspection reports, and accident/incident reports. Operate equipment on the vehicle to assist in loading and unloading, or to disperse products or materials. Assist the Shipping and Receiving Clerk with a variety of shipping and receiving tasks related to manufacturing operations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor.

Education and Experience

A-Z license required. Minimum three years of driving experience. Clean and accident-free Driver's Abstract. Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is an asset. Forklift operation experience is considered an asset.

Key Competencies

Physical capacity to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions and safety procedures with precision. Fluent written and spoken English. Good computer skills. Demonstrated reliability, initiative, and good judgment in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. Ability to work varied hours and shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Collaborative team player with a willingness to support cross-functional production and shipping needs. Safety-conscious mindset with a commitment to good housekeeping practices and company safety and HR policies.
