Profile The Technical Publications Authoring Specialist is responsible for maintaining high-quality technical documentation that supports products, systems, and services. This role ensures that all technical publications are accurate, clear, compliant with applicable standards, and tailored to the needs of end users, customers, and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Technical Publications suppliers and internal departments to coordinate authoring, illustrating, quality assurance, and publishing of technical manuals and bulletins.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, quality, and regulatory teams to gather and validate technical information.
- Ensure documentation complies with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal style guides.
- Manage document version control, configuration management, and revision tracking.
- Support document publishing workflows using content management systems (CMS), XML authoring tools, or DITA-based platforms.
- Coordinate peer reviews and quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability.
- Coordinate with graphics, illustration, and localization teams as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, English, Information Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Skills
- Proven experience in technical writing or technical publications authoring. Preferably in aerospace
- General knowledge of technical manual concepts and standard practices.
- Ability to understand and interpret aerospace engineering drawings (preferably De Havilland), specifications and processes (preferred).
- Experience with desktop publishing, using industry standard tools such as Arbortext Editor, Adobe FrameMaker, Quicksilver, Pennant R4i, or equivalent software (preferred).
- Knowledge of various ATA and S1000D specifications for Technical Publications (preferred).
- Strong command of written English with excellent grammar, clarity, and attention to detail and knowledge of Simplified Technical English (STE).
- Project Management skills and experience.
- Strong customer focus and proven relationship-building capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
