Job Description
Maintain a thorough knowledge of the footwear market and emerging trends and to design seasonal collections in line with the vision and brand aesthetic of MATT & NAT.
- Sourcing new materials through trade shows/research on the internet.
- Trend research.
- Fabric selection.
- Developing the collection
- Sketch new styles for the collection each season.
- Prepare tech packs to develop prototypes
- Review prototypes to make sure that they are in line with the brand direction.
- Review prototypes to make sure that the construction is accurate, functional.
- Make necessary corrections on prototypes
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in footwear design and material
- Interest in fashion/design
- Proficiency in Adobe Illlustrator and Photoshop.
- Ability to convey ideas through sketches.
- Strong sense of personal ownership.
- Obsessive attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to be hands on as needed

Over the years, we’ve been experimenting with different recycled materials such as recycled nylons, cardboard, rubber and cork. Since 2007, we’ve been committed to using linings only made out of 100% recycled plastic bottles. We have also recently introduced recycled bicycle tires to our collections.
MATT & NAT collections can now be found in boutiques across Canada, the United States, the UK, Japan, Germany and Australia.
