This is a permanent, full-time position, working 75 hours bi-weekly.

The Yukon Geological Survey (YGS) acquires and disseminates geological and geohazard knowledge to support exploration; to inform resource and land management planning; to assist with infrastructure development; and to engage communities, schools and the public.
Reporting to the Manager of Technical Services, the Publications Technician position is responsible for providing publication support, designs and formats reports, maps, and technical documents to support geological and research publications; utilizes GIS software to integrate spatial data into maps and reports, ensuring accuracy and visual clarity; collaborates with staff to develop visually engaging materials that align with branding and industry standards; oversees the layout and production of specialized publications, including GIS-based products; provides technical support and guidance on document design, GIS mapping, and digital media; maintains publication archives, and digital assets; manages the branch’s social media presence and ensures consistent messaging across digital platforms; and is responsible for the development and upkeep of the branch’s website and online content.

Undergraduate degree and/or diploma in Communications or relevant subject/field

Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe InDesign

Experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn

Experience using Adobe Illustrator is an asset

Experience using ESRI ArcGIS Pro software is an asset
