Annual salary: $2,257.45 - 2,658.05 biweekly

The location for this position is our Edmonds Office in Burnaby.

As Industrial Hygiene Co-op student, your primary role will include:

  • Working with Hygiene Team members to support the BC Hydro Industrial Hygiene Program by assessing occupational

exposures, evaluating and recommending exposure controls, documenting sampling events, and developing reports.

  • Interacting with front line managers and workers to understand work processes and communicating exposure results and

recommendations.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Developing or reviewing documentation for Industrial Hygiene-related Programs.

  • Supporting other Industrial Hygiene Program sampling efforts (e.g., bulk, surface, and air sampling for chemical

contaminants, noise monitoring, etc.).

  • Entering sampling data into IH database.

  • Providing technical subject matter expert support.

What you bring

  • To qualify as a candidate, individuals should have completed the 1st year of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene

Master’s Program and have yet to graduate.

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

  • Strong communication skills, highly motivated and results oriented.

  • Requires a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.

What we offer

  • As a condition of employment at BC Hydro, a background check clearance will be required. This may include: reference

checks, education verification, employment verification, criminal record check, drivers abstract review, and a drug and

alcohol test.

  • All positions will be hired first as a four month work term. For some positions, there is opportunity to extend, to eight

months.

  • Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate

themselves if necessary.

Please be advised that this role has been assessed as safety sensitive and pre-qualification alcohol and drug testing will be

required as a pre-condition to employment.
