The Ministry of Justice - Office of Residential Tenancies is seeking reliable, knowledgeable, service-oriented individuals to provide front-line service delivery in its Saskatoon office.

Reporting to the Deputy Directors or Director, you will work as a member of our centralized client service team operating in Regina and Saskatoon, providing information and leading tenants and landlords in the early resolution of disputes. After collecting and analyzing problems, you will propose and implement solutions including intervention in emergency situations.

You will also educate tenants, landlords, and the general public in person, through a call centre, and at community presentations on the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants. You will coach clients in responsible behaviour and encourage early resolution of disputes. Those requiring adjudication will rely on you to explain statutory and regulatory procedures and obligations relevant to their individual situation. You will review claims for compliance and accuracy in order to avoid delays, and you will assist to identify relevant evidence and prepare clients for their hearing.

You also will be highly productive in the preparation of legal documents and perform other duties with excellence as assigned.

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate exceptional patience and empathy while remaining respectful, neutral, and objective. Your ability to predict problems arising from a client's planned behaviour or action will guide you in providing direction and preventing escalation of disputes. The information you exchange with clients requires you to accurately apply legislation, policies, guidelines, and legal precedence to diverse situations.

Our candidate of choice will have the ability to communicate with others of diverse languages and whose use and comprehension of the English language may be challenged. You will have knowledge of communications technology and software applications and the ability to operate computer and office equipment.

You will manage a high volume of work on a timely basis, monitor several client service portals, and communicate effectively within the client service team to set priorities and meet deadlines under tight timelines. Your strong organizational and interpersonal skills along with the ability to take initiative without supervision will help you serve clients in a professional manner.

Typically, the knowledge required to complete the requirements of this position is acquired through the completion of a Bachelors degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Policy, Human Justice, or a related course of study.

Applicants must be a resident of Saskatchewan and eligible to work in Canada.
