About CBI Health’s Community Rehabilitation Services
Working in communities across Ontario, our Community Rehabilitation Services team treats clients who’ve experienced workplace injuries and motor vehicle accidents, focusing on a return to pre-accident function. Treatment goals are determined collaboratively with our clients and funders and include self-care, home management, community engagement and a return to work.
Occupational Therapists within ourComplex Autoprogram assess and treat clients presenting with various physical (musculoskeletal, orthopaedic), cognitive (TBIs, concussions) and psychosocial impairments related to motor vehicle accidents. Working in a community setting, we guide our clients through every step of their recovery.
In ourTraumatic Psychological Injuryprogram, Occupational Therapists work with first responders who’ve experienced trauma in the workplace, conducting in vivo exposure therapy and facilitating trauma processing, coping and return to function. Our innovative approach to evidence-based care incorporates novel interventions like virtual reality to promote industry-leading mental health outcomes.
Working as an Independent Contractor on our team, you will have the opportunity to specialize in one area of practice or to take on a mixed caseload.

Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day
- Work with your clients throughout their entire treatment plan, from assessment to discharge, and be involved in the final positive outcome
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other health both locally and nationally to deliver excellent client outcomes
- Provide assessment and treatment to a wide variety of clients with varying needs, including those with chronic and/or mental health conditions
- Work with WSIB complex files
- Conduct hospital discharges
- Perform attendant care assessments, including completion of Form 1’s
- Coordinate the delivery, installation and set-up of assistive devices/home modifications as well as the transportation/rehabilitation needs of clients with acute injuries post discharge
- Coordinate the return-to-work process with all stakeholders, ensuring a smooth transition into the workplace
- Work closely with your team to develop new programs to meet identified client needs
- Perform regular, timely charting, reporting and communication, and record workload measurement data
- Teach a variety of group education classes
What you need to be successful
- Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- A valid driver’s licence and have access to a reliable vehicle
- Passion about your profession, commitment to ongoing professional development, and dedication to providing excelled client care
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making and analytic skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Empathy and an effective ability to build rapport with clients
- Experience in the private sector, particularly auto sector legislation and WSIB, is an asset
