Job Description:

Food & Conference Services offers student employment opportunities to enrolled Algonquin College students. There is a selection of opportunities for you to work on campus, reflective of your class schedule

Applicants must submit their FALL 2025 Algonquin College course timetable. Please upload a copy along with your resume to your application.

Anticipated Schedules Include:

Positions are scheduled up to 24 hours per week (3 to 4 shifts).

Some positions require early morning, daytime, evening and weekend hours.

  • Positions commencing August 25th, 2025. Ongoing hiring will occur until all positions are filled.
  • Schedules are reflective of positions, with a maximum of 24 hours/week.
  • This position requires regular on-site work at Algonquin College’s Woodroffe (Ottawa) Campus

Merchandiser and Cleaner

  • The student in this role ensures that incoming food and grocery items are stocked and stored as per department policies. They are to ensure all high touch locations are sanitized, including fridges, tables, counters, food service machines and serving utensils. In addition, they will sweep, dust, wash dishes and empty garbage receptacles and may need to cover co-worker service breaks.

Counter Assistant

  • As a counter service assistant with the Food Service department, this student role offers friendly, efficient service while preparing food as ordered by the customer. They are required to ensure accuracy in the preparation of the requested menu items while following required food safety processes.

Cashier Assistant

  • As an assistant cashier with the Food Service department, this student role offers friendly, efficient service while operating the point of sale. They are required to ensure accuracy in transactions while keeping their station clean, sanitized and stocked.

Production Assistant

  • As a food production assistant with the Food Service department, this student role prepares food items for service such as sandwich table items, grab n go products, and recipe ingredients for main course production. Offers friendly, efficient service while preparing food as ordered by the customer. They are required to ensure accuracy in the preparation of the requested menu items while following required food safety processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Secondary School (Grade 12) diploma;
  • Must be an enrolled student (Fall 2025) at Algonquin College;
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a team atmosphere;
  • Ability of providing speedy, efficient, courteous and tactful service;
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, pull and stock a variety of merchandise,
  • Experience in a food service related industry and knowledge of food preparation an asset;
  • Experience handling cash if applying for cashier positions an asset;
  • Knowledge in kitchen sanitation and safety standards an asset.
