Externally, we are here to serve the Community, and internally, we are our own Community, comprised of different departments unified by our Vision, Mission, and Values. About the Opportunity
We are currently recruiting a temporary ʔaqamnik Program Coordinatorto join our team in Cranbrook, BC from January 5 to March 13, 2026 with possibility of an extension.
The ʔaqamnik Program Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of meal planning, shopping and preparation required for the ʔaq̓amnik̓ School Lunch Daily Program, overseeing, planning and leading the After School Program and the Summer Program for the Community of ʔaq̓am in consultation with the Director of Education & Learning and the Principal.
Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Oversee and administer the After School Program and the Summer Program for the Community of ʔaq̓am including ensuring policies and procedures are up to date, lead daily programming, oversee and schedule staff and student activities. Assist with recruitment, orientation and training these team members
- Protect the health and safety of employees and children by monitoring work practices and by providing for emergency health and safety measures.
- Organize and retain child registration and files.
- Effectively communicate with parents, guardians, other staff and external resources.
- Comply with ʔaq̓amnik̓ School Policies & Procedures, Food Safety Standards & Guidelines, including Provincial Health & Safety procedures. Prepare and maintain food/freezer/pantry inventory, along with equipment.
- Ensure meals and snacks are prepared onsite in a timely manner to meet program routines and schedules and distribute menus to families a week in advance.
- Practice safe food handling techniques, preparation, and storage for maximum nutritional value.
- Based on weekly menus, prepare, and complete a grocery list to include ordering and shopping.

More About You
In order to qualify for the ʔaqamnik Program Coordinator role, you must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in managing programs,completion of Grade 12 or GED equivalent, Early Childhood Educator or Early Childhood Educator Assistant education would be an asset, Food Safe Certification or willingness to acquire, and completion and possession of Valid CPR and Child First Aid Certificate. Proof of a clear criminal record including vulnerable sector check. Provision of a clean driver's abstract and a Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Wage will commensurate with experience from a range of $32.34 - $38.46 per hour, plus vacation each pay. This is a temporary term position from January 5 to March 13, 2026.
Preference will be given to candidates of Ktunaxa or other Indigenous ancestry and ʔaq̓am encourages applicants to self-identify within your application. Applications will be reviewed as received and position will remain open until a candidate is selected.
