Located at the urban core of the beautiful North Shore with convenient access to major regional and global centres, Lonsdale Energy Corporation (Lonsdale Energy) continues to expand and develop a District Energy System that currently services 110 buildings and over 7700 dwellings. Having recently committed to ambitious decarbonization targets, Lonsdale Energy has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a strategic, collaborative and results oriented Project Manager, to join our team. Your work will play a crucial role in helping the corporation achieve its ambitious environmental targets while expanding our award-winning community energy system.
Reporting to the Deputy Director, this position is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of district energy projects, overseeing all phases from planning and design through construction and commissioning. These projects include interconnection works—covering both district energy piping and energy transfer stations—to connect new customer buildings to the district energy system.
As a Project Manager, you will serve as the key liaison and coordinator among interest holders while overseeing project execution. Working closely with project teams, you will ensure that all activities comply with contractual requirements, design standards, and industry best practices in construction and commissioning.
Responsibilities include preparing comprehensive project plans, encompassing schedules, budgets, supply chain strategies, and communication protocols. You will review plans and drawings for compliance with established standards, monitor construction progress, and provide guidance on proposed changes. The role also entails securing all necessary permits, land tenures, and rights required for construction. In collaboration with the Construction Manager, you will ensure that all work is executed in accordance with contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and occupational health and safety standards.
Additional responsibilities include; engaging with interest holders, reviewing invoices and payment claims, preparing technical reports and project specifications, and overseeing the work of contractors and consultants. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of design, construction, and operational standards, while fostering strong and collaborative relationships with external partners, internal departments, and the public.
You have a degree in a related discipline (Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management) and 7 - 12 years of progressive experience managing projects and project teams or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Municipal experience, experience working with district energy and project management professional designation (PMP) are preferred. Proven communication and collaboration skills are essential in this role, along with strong organizational skills, experience in contract management, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is also required.
During the recruitment process, applicants will be requested to provide a current Police Information Check (PIC).
Through the City of North Vancouver, Lonsdale Energy offers an attractive remuneration package for this temporary exempt position, including a compressed work schedule and a 35-hour work week. The salary range is $119,964 to $141,132 annually (2024 rates). Salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity.
