Annual salary: $ 131,100.00 - 165,800.00
What you'll do
The Commercial Manager for the North Coast portfolio is responsible for supporting BC Hydro’s North Coast projects
through leading the development of business cases, applying a structured decision making framework to assess project
alternatives and options, and establishment and management of external financing compliance analysis and reporting.
The North Coast projects are major transmission and infrastructure investments to support electrification, industrial
development, and long-term system reliability in northern British Columbia. The position combines responsibilities in
business case development, structured decision analysis, and executive-level communications to support internal funding
and approval decisions with responsibility for ongoing external financing compliance.
What you'll do:
Internal decision analysis and approvals:
-
Lead development of business cases and decision documentation to support internal funding and approval processes.
-
Apply BC Hydro’s Structured Decision-Making (SDM) framework to evaluate options and alternatives and support clear,
well-justified recommendations.
- Prepare executive-level materials, including briefing notes and presentations for senior leadership and Board
consideration.
- Work across disciplines to ensure analysis and recommendations are aligned with project objectives and business
strategy.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to strengthen capability in decision analysis, documentation quality, and
governance practices.
External financing compliance analysis and reporting:

Establish and manage the approach to lender compliance, analysis, and reporting over the life of the financing.

Act as a key interface between project teams, internal stakeholders, and lenders on funding compliance reporting.

Assess and report on the financing implications of project developments during construction and operations.

Support the structuring, negotiation, and execution of project financing arrangements prior to financial close.

Work across multidisciplinary teams and with senior internal and external stakeholders
Additional Role Considerations:
- The role will be engaged early in the due diligence process during financing structuring and negotiation, and
responsibilities will evolve as financing, governance, and approval processes are established and refined.
- The role requires the application of established financial, analytical, and governance skills across a range of project stages
and decision contexts.
- The role is expected to operate with a high degree of professional judgment in situations where processes and precedents
are still being developed.
What you bring
- A university degree, preferably in business administration, economics, or engineering. Other relevant undergraduate and/
or graduate degree combinations will also be considered.

Ten or more (10+) years of relevant experience with proven progression in responsibilities over that time.

Experience in early development and / or management of large infrastructure projects is an asset.

Demonstrated experience developing business cases, financial analysis, and decision documentation to support senior
leadership or Board-level decisions.

Experience applying structured decision-making or comparable analytical frameworks.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing executive-level materials.
-
Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and with senior internal and external stakeholders.
-
Experience in project finance, infrastructure finance, structured finance, or a related field is considered an asset.

This role is distinct from a contract commercial management role. It focuses on financing compliance, decision quality, and
governance.
