ROLE: Journeyman – Millwright/Power Engineer

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor

LOCATION: Annacis Island

We are looking for a Journeyman - Millwright/Power Engineer to join our Maintenance team! Our Millwright will be responsible for installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment on the production line!

CHARACTER & ABILITIES

  • You are independent operator that requires minimal supervision.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • You have 3-5 years of relevant experience in a busy plant environment.
  • You have Red Seal Millwright certification.
  • You have a strong background in electrical diagnostics and repair.
  • You have the ability to troubleshoot PLC and program logic an asset.
  • Valid Power Engineer Certificate (minimum 4th Class Power Engineer)
  • 3–5 years experience operating boilers and utility systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment familiarity with Technical Safety BC regulations and logbook requirements
  • Working Knowledge of HMI as they relate to processing, filling equipment in a food- manufacturing environment.
  • You have strong computer skills including MS Office Suite
  • You have excellent mathematical and mechanical skills.
  • You have great interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)

NICE-TO-HAVE

  • Fabrication experience is an asset with the ability to TIG weld.
  • Experience and/or education in lean manufacturing; Six Sigma
  • Experience with ammonia or glycol refrigeration systems
  • Confined space and lockout/tagout experience

THINGS YOU WILL DO…

  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain steam boilers and utility systems during assigned shifts
  • Perform routine equipment checks, testing, and inspections
  • Record accurate readings and maintain regulatory logbooks and records
  • Start up, shut down, and adjust equipment to meet operational demand
  • Monitor water chemistry and support boiler treatment
  • Ensure compliance with Technical Safety BC, WorkSafeBC, and food safety requirements
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Operate hoisting/lifting device and operate machine tools as needed.
  • Install, align, take apart, and move stationary industrial machinery/mechanical equipment using appropriate tools.
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Familiar with HACCP principles, pre-requisite programs, and adhering to plant- specific GMP and GWP rules.

  • Union: IUOE Local 882
  • 5 days at 7.2 hours or 4 days at 9 hours, depending on scheduled shift
  • 36-hour regular work week schedule
  • Shift start and end times will vary, with Days, Afternoons or Evening Shifts
  • Wage Rate Progression Starting at: $49.52 per hour with shift premiums
