The duties and responsibilities of a Vocational Instructor include continuing excellence in one’s field, instructional and professional duties, professional development and service.
Functions and Duties
Instructional duties may include any or all of the following: instructional (teaching assignments); course and program preparation and revision; student contact; student advising; evaluation and marking of student work and other functions related to instruction.
Professional duties may include any or all of the following: curriculum development, student registration and pre-registration duties.
Professional development is activity intended to promote teaching excellence, subject area competence and technical competence in the area of professional or instructional expertise.
Service may include any or all of the following: school visitations; participation on OC committees; attendance at articulation meetings; representing OC at other function; administrative and other duties.
Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s Degree in TESL or equivalent; a Master’s Degree in TESL or a related field is preferred.

A minimum of three years full-time ESL teaching experience to adults in Canada and abroad, including both face-to-face and online synchronous teaching using MOODLE.

A demonstrated level of excellence in English communication skills.

Experience in asynchronous teaching and course development is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications
The Department of English Language is seeking non-regular part-time Vocational Instructors to teach the following sections at the Kelowna Campus in Summer 2026:
EAPD 10 (Academic Discussion Skills 1): 140 instructional hours in July- August
EAPD 20 (Academic Discussion Skills 2): 140 instructional hours in July- August

Academic:
Master’s Degree in a related field preferred
TESL Canada Professional Certification preferred
Three years of English as a Second Language teaching experience
Preference is given to candidates with adult ESL teaching experience
Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrates competencies teaching culturally diverse learners
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written)
Experience using e-learning tools
Ability to work independently and as a team member

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate
Salary range $71,486 to $115,129 with normal starting salary between $78,872 and $85,897 annually, dependent on relevant education and experience.
