It ensures proper staffing and processes are in place and followed in each work cell and function. The position also ensures that the direct labor force has all the tools and fixtures needed to complete their jobs. Additionally, this role supports and coaches the production team throughout the day, demonstrating Milwaukee’s culture in all activities, interactions, and relationships.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure all employees are working safely and with intent.
  • Lead and coordinate repair teams to meet safety, production, quality, cost, inventory, and team objectives. Support technicians as a servant leader.
  • Engage with engineering as needed, bridging communication and serving as a positive, candid voice for your team.
  • Perform all related supervisory and human resource functions, including work assignments, attendance documentation, incident reports, performance evaluations, and counseling.
  • Lead training and development by motivating and counseling team members to assist in creating work instructions, production standards, balanced workflow, and problem resolution.
  • Assist in onboarding by assessing talent, interviewing, and assimilating new employees as they transition from training to the plant floor. Follow up and build relationships.
  • Ensure all fixtures, tools, and safety equipment are operable and used as designed. Confirm work instructions are being followed. Urgently correct or escalate issues as required, including engagement with engineering, training, and leadership.
  • Assign work and special projects to team members to develop experience and flexibility.
  • Monitor and audit daily production reports, resolving potential errors.
  • Review budget and forecast data and factor these into daily staffing and production decisions.
  • Requisition resources (supplies, tools, etc.) and expedite as required.
  • Act as backup for all team members, including the department manager.
  • Facilitate team meetings and communications.
  • Contribute to team success by performing related tasks as needed to assist in overall department goals.
  • Lead, support, and encourage participation in safety, 5S, and culture teams. Celebrate their contributions to the plant.
  • Audit near misses, safety incidents, and related processes to determine root causes and implement necessary corrections.
  • Monitor team data feeds, reports, metrics, and KPIs to ensure daily performance and identify gaps and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with production teams, engineering, and other supporting functions to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain communication between floor leads and supervisors across departments to ensure the smooth flow of parts.

  • Proven experience in production or a supervisory role, especially within a culture-focused environment like Milwaukee
  • Travel will be rare, but some initial travel could be approved to Milwaukee’s other service hubs in Greenwood Indiana, or Greenwood Mississippi.
