Summary
We are seeking a Cleaner to join our team at Barrie Municipal Non-Profit Housing Corporation. This role involves performing custodial duties and miscellaneous tasks to ensure that buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner.
Full-time position (37.5 hours, Monday-Friday) at an hourly rate of $20.61.

· Possess a valid Ontario drivers? license and a reliable vehicle. Required.
· Must pass vulnerable sector screening.
Responsibilities
- Cleans all offices, hallways, and common areas, daily.
- Vacuums and spot clean carpets, daily.
- Sweeps and mops all tile floors, daily.
- Cleans and sanitizes washrooms, daily.
- Spot cleans all horizontal and vertical surfaces, walls, light switches, and doors, daily.
- Empties and sanitizes waste receptacles, daily.
- Replenishes paper products and soap in laundry rooms, washrooms and common rooms, daily.
- Washes windows, cleans appliances and clears the grounds of refuse, daily.
- Cleans and sanitizes garbage rooms and equipment, daily.
- Wipes down elevators twice a day or as needed.
- Strips, seals and waxes floors when needed.
- Operates gas-powered machinery.
- Provide cleaning for unit turnovers when directed by Manager.
- Assists other Barrie Housing staff with the set up and taking down of equipment and furnishings for community development initiatives.
- Cleans the common/play rooms once booked/utilized.
- Reports any acts of vandalism to Maintenance Technician and Housing Support Worker.
- Participates in regular supervisory sessions with direct Manager.
- Participates in regular staff and unit meetings within the unit.
- Performs other related duties assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of High School Diploma or vocational equivalent.
- Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment.
- Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System.
- Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of cleaning chemicals and products.
- Ability to work under little supervision.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Demonstrates initiative to assist in other areas when requested or required.
- Ability to lift up to 30 kilograms.
