Position

The Flight Sciences Engineer –Loads, Dynamics & Acoustics will act as a technical resource in the analysis, testing, and documentation of aircraft structural loads, acoustics, dynamics, vibration, and/or aerodynamics. The successful individual will also be tasked with continuous support to our aircraft throughout its lifecycle from conceptual design through certification, production, and fleet support.

This role bridges multiple disciplines within the Flight Sciences domain. Working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment, the engineer will lead, or support engineering activity related to aircraft involved with air transport, firefighting, search and rescue and other multipurpose roles.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis for determination of external loads for aircraft design loading conditions.
  • Perform aeroelastic and structural-dynamic analyses using a variety of tools.
  • Plan and support ground and flight dynamic, vibration and/or acoustic testing, including an understanding of instrumentation and data acquisition requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations (e.g., FAR/CS) by preparing documentation supporting these activities under a broad group of disciplines.
  • Develop and maintain in-house tools and methods for noise prediction, vibration analysis, aeroelastic and loads calculations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to translate analytical and test results into design recommendations and certification deliverables.
  • Maintain clear and well-organized documentation and technical communication, ensuring findings are accessible, traceable, and actionable.
  • Manage workload across multiple projects by applying strong organizational and prioritization skills and understanding how individual tasks contribute to broader company objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related engineering field.
  • Intermediate experience in Flight Sciences-related disciplines such as structural loads, dynamics, noise/vibration, and/or aerodynamics is preferred.
  • Proficiency in analytical, programming and simulation tools such as MSC/NX NASTRAN, Altair HyperWorks, MATLAB, Python, C++ and Fortran.
  • Familiarity working in UNIX/LINUX environments.
  • Strong investigative and problem-solving skills, the ability to trace issues through past documentation, legacy data, and test archives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities with excellent organization, planning, and project management skills.
  • Effective communicator, capable of producing clear technical reports and engaging across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to travel on occasion to support on-site testing, customer support or other activities based on business needs.

Assets

  • Knowledge of airworthiness and certification processes (FAR/CS 23 or 25)
  • Experience with CFD tools and a solid understanding of aerodynamics
  • Proficiency in CATIA or other CAD tools for integration with structural analysis
  • Familiarity to sound and vibration testing hardware, signal processing, and/or modal analysis
  • Experience working with flight data and/or experimental data analysis tools
  • A team player who fosters collaboration, enhances problem-solving, and contributes to a more productive and supportive work environment.
