About the role
MEI is an independent Pre-K-12 school system with approximately 1600 students. All applicants must be dedicated to Christian education. Successful candidates are required to sign an MEI Staff Covenant indicating acceptance and agreement with MEI Schools' Christian values.
MEI Secondary School is seeking qualified applicants for the following Inclusive Education Teacher/ Coordinator position with the intended start date of September 2, 2026.
Inclusive Education Teacher / Coordinator – Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Continuing (begins September 2, 2026)
The Inclusive Education Teacher /Coordinator supports students with diverse abilities, including students with complex needs and intellectual disabilities, through a balanced model of inclusive classroom participation and targeted, direct instruction.
Aligned with the BC Ministry of Education Inclusive Education Policy (2024) and district practices, this role also focuses on developing the academic, functional, and life skills required for successful transition to adulthood.
This Teacher / Coordinator is responsible for the following:
- Case management, development and implementation of Ministry of Education-funded programs for students with designations
- Direct supervision and management (shared with Learning Support Co-Coordinator) of between ten (10) to twelve (12) Educational Assistants (EAs)
- The formulation of extensive Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students meeting any one of the Ministry's designations for students
- Providing targeted, direct instruction outside the classroom to build essential skills aligned with IEP goals
- Working in collaboration with the School-Based Team (Administrators, Counsellors and Learning Support Teachers)
- Communication with teachers, parents, medical professionals and other community- based professionals who provide varying levels of support for students with Ministry designations
- Maintaining clear, current, and compliant documentation
Successful applicants will possess a valid teaching certificate and relevant education and experience in Inclusive Education as well as the following:
- Demonstrated ability and experience in the responsibilities above
- Demonstrated ability and experience in leading and supervising teams of people
- Strong communication skills
- Asset: Qualified to administer Level B assessments and interpret or explain Educational Psychologist reports
This position will remain open until filled, with the first round of interviews expected to begin on June 22nd, 2026.
The annual salary for each teacher position is determined by qualifications and experience for placement on the MEI Teacher Salary Grid. For the 2026-2027 school year, a full-time **BC Certified Teacher salary (with a certificate of qualification from the BC Ministry of Education and Childcare and with a university degree and a professional teacher education program) ranges from $69,050 to $113,295. **
