LOCATION AND ABOUT NHH

Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Acute services include emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical care and palliative care. Post-acute specialty services (PASS) include restorative care and rehabilitation. Mental health care, cancer and supportive care, dialysis and other ambulatory care clinics are offered on an outpatient basis through partnerships with regional centres and nearby specialists. NHH offers a full range of diagnostic services, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and mammography. The hospital serves the catchment area of west Northumberland County. A mixed urban and rural population of approximately 67,000 residents, west Northumberland comprises the Town of Cobourg, the Municipality of Port Hope, Alderville First Nation and the townships of Hamilton, Cramahe and Alnwick/Haldimand. ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Program Manager the Clinical Telemedicine Coordinator is to ensure the delivery of high-quality telemedicine services across all of NHH services.

In collaboration with the Program Manager, the OTN Telemedicine Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Working with partner hospitals and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for promoting and increasing the clinical use of OTN,
  • The development of organizational structures and resources to support the development of telemedicine including telemedicine policies, procedures in keeping with the direction and priorities of NHH,
  • Preparing and overseeing all internal and external organizational requirements for telemedicine activity statistics and reporting,
  • Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, the client and support network in the development, implementation, and evaluation of telemedicine services at NHH.
  • Promoting telemedicine to healthcare professionals, patients, and the community,
  • Acting as an organizational point-of-contact for clinical telemedicine,
  • Actively seeking opportunities for promoting the use of telemedicine,
  • Attending and participating in OTN regional TMC meetings and Communities of Practice,
  • Participating in clinical care planning conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • BScN preferred; current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario; Current BCLS Certification,
  • Recent experience within the telemedicine environment and program development required
  • Clear understanding of adult learning principles; teaching experience in classroom and clinical settings required
  • Ability to engage and demonstrated experience in community agencies/partners in program planning and development
  • Ability to be self directed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other professionals and interdisciplinary team members
  • Enhanced person-centered care practices, teaching experience in classroom and clinical settings an asset
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, communication, team building, facilitation and coaching/mentoring skills that encourage positive interactions among all members of the health care team
  • Well-developed problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, delegation skills and conflict management skills
  • Demonstrates a professional and respectful attitude to patients, public, volunteers and colleagues and fosters good public relations and effective working relationships
  • Strong computer skills preferred (i.e., clinical software, EPIC, Microsoft Office Suite, internet, and email)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of change and ability to act as an effective change agent
  • Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance required

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
