Position Overview: Level 1
This is an entry role into landscaping maintenance and management of the surroundings on our sites. Candidates will have little or no experience in landscaping, or the necessary use of tools, machinery or tasks required. The role will have significant supervision and the candidate will receive tuition, training, and continual coaching. There would be considerable growth opportunities in learning and development in this role and allow candidates to progress into a Level two role in season. This role would support experienced Landscape Technicians.
Position Overview: Level 2
This is a basic role in landscaping maintenance and management of the surroundings on our sites. Candidates will have some experience (nominally one year) in landscape maintenance, the use of essential tools, machinery and tasks required. Task standards should be easily understood but may still require frequent checking and feedback.
The role will have some supervision, and the candidate will receive tuition, training, and continual coaching. There would be considerable growth opportunities in learning and development in this role and allow candidates to progress into a Level three role in season. This role would support experienced Landscape Technicians.
Position Overview: Level 3
This is an experienced role in landscaping maintenance and management of the surroundings on our sites. Candidates will have experience (three years) in most tasks required in landscaping, covering the use of hand tools and machinery. Task standards should be easily understood and will require little to no supervision and feedback.
The role will have some supervision, and the candidate will receive tuition, training, and continual coaching. There would be considerable growth opportunities in learning and development in this role. This role would support experienced Landscape Technicians.
Position Overview: Level 4
This is a seasoned experienced role in landscaping maintenance and management of the surroundings on our sites. Candidates will have considerable experience (five years'
experience) in Landscape maintenance, covering the use of hand tools and machinery. Task standards should be familiar and performed to a high standard and be an example to other team members. This role will require the candidate to lead small teams on projects as and when necessary.
The role will have no supervision, but the candidate will still receive tuition, training, and continual coaching. There would be considerable growth opportunities in learning and development in this role. This role would support Landscape Supervisor to maintain the landscape around all of Cabot’s properties.
Core Accountabilities: Level 1 - 4
- Ability to follow oral and written directions in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure a continuous safe, clean, and productive work environment always
- Learn all the different Landscape locations
- Use appropriate PPE equipment where instructed, for self and others
- Complete pre-shift staging of equipment and resources daily, as directed
- Identify unsafe areas and activities and report hazards immediately
- Operate gasoline, diesel, and electric utility maintenance equipment in a safe manner.
- Continuous debris and garbage collection throughout the golf resort
- Implement world-class presentation of daily course set up and golf course conditions are achieved prior to the first tee time each day
- Report any adverse golf course/landscape conditions and all disciplinary issues to the Superintendent
Essential Responsibilities & Duties: Level 1
- General Labour
- String trimming
- General turf maintenance (sod, weeding, etc.)
- Use of light utility vehicles
Essential Responsibilities & Duties: Level 2 additional to Level one
- Pedestrian mowing both cylinder and rotary
- Hand watering turf
Essential Responsibilities & Duties: Level 3 additional to Levels one, and two
- Large area mowing
- General pest control (supervised).
Essential Responsibilities & Duties: Level 4 additional to Levels one, two and three
- Hold a valid Nova Scotia Driving License
- General pest control and hold a valid Nova Scotia Pesticide Applicators Certificate Class III (D) Landscape
- Lead Small Teams/projects
- Basic Excavator Operation
- Tractor + Implement Operation
- Move equipment with truck and landscape trailer

Physical demands
- Based on the nature of our business and the service we provide to our guests; to work with us, you must consent to a criminal background check as a condition of employment and an additional criminal background check every two years.
- As a seasonal resort business, you can anticipate a schedule that will involve day, evening, night, and weekend work.
- Long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, and crouching while performing other duties is to be expected.
- Work outdoors and operate vehicles and equipment for several hours in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to work with and around motorized equipment movement hazards, and misdirected golf balls.
- Ability to work with and around pesticides, fertilizers, and registered products and safely follow product labels.
