Job Description
As a Director, Development, you will contribute to all aspects of our mixed-use rental developments including design, municipal approvals, construction, asset management and marketing. Accountable for assuming ownership and to drive projects as it relates to the full development lifecycle. The ultimate incumbent is a self-starter who is outgoing, organized, thorough and works well under pressure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leading the full lifecycle of the development and coordinating all third-party consultants including engineers, architects and planners.
- Providing accurate and relevant data on project progress and collaborating with the senior management team and external stakeholders to prepare project planning, budgeting and identification of required resources.
- Coordinating all planning approvals to ensure they are obtained within the required timeframe and budget.
- Working with architects and other consultants to develop the project design from schematic to working drawings.
- Tracking and closely monitoring all project costs to ensure completion within budget.
- Working with the finance team to develop and maintain project budgets and proformas to ensure the ongoing health of projects.
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly project updates for investors and providing input for investment committee presentations.
- Conducting project reviews and debriefs to identify areas for improvement and making recommendations based on findings.
Qualifications:
- Highly driven, committed, organized and flexible with the ability to meet challenging deadlines while prioritizing multiple tasks and projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation with flexibility and resilience in dealing with a variety of different personalities.
- Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail, goal-oriented and driven by integrity.
Minimum Requirements:
- A degree in architecture, planning, real-estate development, or an academic equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role in the real-estate industry.
- Thorough knowledge of the local approval processes and policies, planning and urban design.
