Overview

The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) is looking for an experienced Director, Information Technology, to lead the Information Technology (IT) function and ensure it operates reliably, securely, and efficiently. This position provides strategic direction and operational leadership for SRC’s IT services, infrastructure, business systems, and digital tools. The Director is responsible for driving continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for efficiencies and automation, and ensuring the successful delivery of core enterprise systems and programs.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and manage annual functional KPIs, work plans, resource allocation and budget plans, ensuring a data-informed IT strategy aligned with broader organizational priorities and needs
  • Lead IT governance including prioritization of projects, systems, integrations, and service enhancements
  • Ensure reliable, secure, and effective IT operations, including infrastructure, networks, service desk, system administration, digital tools, and user support
  • Establish clear service standards to improve end-user experience, ensuring clear communication and consistent on-time delivery, while continuously monitoring client satisfaction and response effectiveness
  • Lead the selection and lifecycle management of SRC’s IT hardware, software, and enterprise platforms, building strong vendor and partner relationships to ensure solutions meet business needs and SRC standards
  • Drive the optimization, automation, process redesign, and digital solutions that reduce manual effort, streamline workflows and improve quality and efficiency
  • Maintain strong relationships across the organization, collaborating with leaders and Business Units to define system needs, remove pain points, and implement fit-for-purpose technology solutions
  • Provide leadership and support to high performing IT professionals, through continuous coaching and development, goal setting, and performance evaluations, fostering a continuous improvement, collaborative and service-oriented environment
  • Manage IT budgets and recommend technology investments based on business value, risk, and total cost of ownership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in information technology, including enterprise systems and operational IT delivery
  • Experience in a research, laboratory, or industrial environment is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or implementing platforms such as LIMS, ERP systems, or other enterprise operational systems

Skills

  • Strong business acumen and familiarity with relevant legislation to address IT-related business problems
  • Proven people leadership capability to develop and manage high-performing teams
  • Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders through effective communication, use of relevant data, and a collaborative, flexible approach to problem solving
  • Advanced analytical thinking skills to assess data and recommend preventive measures

The chosen candidate will also be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.

This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
