Steam Ahead in Calgary: Class 5 Power Engineer Needed for Seasonal Boiler Operations – Split Shift, Great Pay!
Agilus is recruiting for a Power Engineer (Class 5) in the Construction Industry in Calgary, Alberta. Are you a certified Class 5 Power Engineer looking for a part-time, hands-on role in Calgary? Join a reputable construction team for a seasonal contract maintaining a steam-powered boiler system in a mostly vacant commercial building. With split shifts and a collaborative environment, this is a great opportunity to stay sharp and earn solid pay.
Responsibilities
- Perform twice-daily boiler system readings spaced 7 hours apart
- Monitor and maintain steam-powered boiler operations
- Record daily logs and system performance data
- Troubleshoot and escalate issues to third-party contractors
- Ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations
- Safely isolate equipment for inspection and maintenance
- Support site operations through ad-hoc duties
- Collaborate with on-site personnel to ensure smooth operations
Requirements
- Valid Class 5 Power Engineer certification (mandatory)
- Strong understanding of steam boiler systems
- Ability to work independently and manage split shifts
- On-call availability for emergency issues (excluding Sundays)
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Safety-conscious with attention to regulatory compliance
- Experience in commercial or industrial boiler environments preferred
- Comfortable working in a mostly vacant building
Total Rewards
- Competitive pay
- Seasonal contract from October 1st to May 2026
- Part-time schedule with split shifts (3–4 hours/day)
- Monday to Saturday workweek with Sundays off
- On-call availability only for emergencies (no Sundays)
- Work at a central Calgary location (North Hill Shopping Centre)
- Collaborate with an experienced on-site team member
- Gain/maintain experience in commercial boiler operations
