New Grad: Financial Project Control Officer
About the role
The Financial Project Control Officer supports project delivery by managing financial planning, tracking, and reporting. They ensure projects stay within budget, identify financial risks early, and provide insights to project managers and leadership.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Budgeting & Forecasting

Develop and maintain project budgets
-
Prepare financial forecasts (monthly/quarterly)
-
Track actuals vs. budget and explain variances
Financial Monitoring & Reporting
-
Produce regular financial reports (costs, revenue, margin)
-
Monitor project financial health (burn rate, profitability)
-
Support month-end and year-end financial processes
Cost Control
-
Track project expenses (labor, vendors, materials)
-
Ensure proper cost allocation and coding
-
Identify cost overruns and recommend corrective actions
Revenue & Billing Support
-
Assist with invoicing and revenue recognition
-
Ensure billing aligns with contracts and milestones
-
Track accounts receivable related to projects
Risk & Compliance
-
Identify financial risks and escalate issues
-
Ensure compliance with company financial policies
-
Support audits and financial reviews
Stakeholder Support
- Work closely with Project Managers, Finance, and Operations
- Provide financial insights for decision-making
- Participate in project review meetings
Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field

Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, financial modeling)

Some experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)

Understanding of project accounting and financial principles

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
-
Good communication skills (translating numbers into insights)
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $55,000 - $80,000
