Job Title: Engineering Specialist – Viva Engage

Contract: 1-Year Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid – Day 1 Onsite, 3 Days/Week Office Presence)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Specialist – Viva Engage to join the Content and Knowledge Management team responsible for delivering, supporting, and enhancing enterprise SaaS collaboration platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, maintenance, automation, migration, and operational support of the Microsoft Viva Engage platform and its integrations across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. This role requires a strong combination of application development, Microsoft 365 platform engineering, automation, identity integration, and enterprise migration expertise. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, security teams, infrastructure teams, and technology vendors to deliver scalable collaboration solutions while maintaining security, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Engineering & Development Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications and automation solutions supporting Viva Engage. Build custom onboarding, provisioning, governance, and lifecycle management solutions. Develop and enhance migration tools for onboarding users, communities, and content into Viva Engage. Create integrations leveraging Microsoft Graph API, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft 365 services.

Platform Support & Operations

Provide operational support and troubleshooting for Viva Engage and related Microsoft 365 services. Investigate and resolve complex platform, integration, authentication, and performance issues. Participate in on-call support rotations and incident management activities. Monitor platform health and drive continuous service improvements.

Migrations & Integrations

Lead migrations from legacy collaboration and community platforms into Viva Engage. Design migration strategies, validation processes, and data transformation workflows. Support integration with enterprise identity and access management solutions. Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to ensure seamless platform operation.

Stakeholder Management

Partner with business units to onboard teams and communities onto Viva Engage. Gather requirements and provide technical guidance on collaboration platform capabilities. Coordinate with technology vendors and third-party support teams as required. Communicate technical solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Documentation & Governance

Create and maintain technical documentation, implementation guides, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks. Ensure compliance with change management, governance, security, and regulatory requirements. Support audit, compliance, retention, and information governance initiatives.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of software/application development experience. Strong expertise in C#, .NET, and enterprise application development. Extensive experience with Microsoft 365, Viva Engage, and SharePoint Online. Hands-on experience building solutions using Microsoft Graph API / Graph SDK. Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience. Experience with SharePoint Online Management Shell and Microsoft 365 administration.

Strong understanding of authentication and identity technologies

OAuth 2.0 OpenID Connect (OIDC) SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) Experience troubleshooting complex enterprise environments with multiple integrations. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Deep understanding of Viva Engage architecture and its integration with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online. Experience designing SaaS onboarding, provisioning, governance, and lifecycle management workflows. Experience developing enterprise automation and orchestration solutions.

Knowledge of Microsoft 365 compliance and security capabilities, including

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Information Barriers Data Classification eCommunication Compliance Retention Policies Understanding of security technologies including: HTTPS TLS Digital Certificates Web Proxies Enterprise Security Controls Experience supporting large-scale content and platform migration initiatives. Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and similar platforms. Experience supporting enterprise collaboration, community, or digital workplace solutions.
