Position Overview The Vice President, Operational Services (VPOS) is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the overall operational performance, safety and effectiveness of the organization. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), this role ensures that facilities and operational support services are delivered safely, compliantly, efficiently, and in alignment with the organization’s mission and funding obligations.

As a key member of the Executive Team, the VPOS provides senior level leadership across facilities, kitchen operations, health & safety and administration. This role contributes to organizational strategy, governance, continuous improvement and long-term sustainability, while ensuring operational practices support high quality service delivery to vulnerable populations.

The role requires a forward-thinking, collaborative leader with strong operational acumen, sound judgement and the ability to balance day-to-day operational oversight with long-term strategic planning.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and senior leadership team on operational and support services matters, inclusive of providing insights, analysis, and risk assessments to inform strategic decision making

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance oversight to operational leaders within the portfolio

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance and continuous improvement of all organizational facilities, including shelter, housing, kitchen, administrative offices, parking, storage and program delivery spaces

  • Develop and implement long-term capital plans, maintenance schedules, and infrastructure improvement strategies, in collaboration with landlords where applicable

  • Establish, implement and monitor safety protocols and emergency response procedures tailored to the needs of the organization and vulnerable populations

  • Ensure compliance with building codes, fire safety regulations, occupational health & safety standards and public health requirements

  • Ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal regulations related to housing, safety, and environmental standards

  • Ensure policies, procedures and related internal controls are current, effective, and aligned with strategic priorities

  • Monitor legislation and regulatory changes affecting health & safety, facilities and shelter and housing operations

This position description reflects the general duties of the role, but is not intended to include all duties that may be inherent in the position. The VPOS may be asked to perform other duties as required or assigned.

What You Bring to Our Mission

  • Post secondary education in business, operations management or a related field

  • 5-7 years of senior leadership experience

  • Proven ability to build and lead high performing teams and success supporting and contributing to the professional development of employees

  • Experience with capital projects, residential construction projects, building operations and Residential Tenancies Act is an asset

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with different levels of government, community partners and sector agencies
