What You’ll Be Doing
The Director, Global Markets Business Management - Operations is responsible for leading and executing core operational, administrative, governance, and business enablement activities that support the effective day‑to‑day management of Global Markets. Partnering closely with Global Markets Business Managers, the role ensures consistent, disciplined execution across processes, technology, and controls. Serving as a trusted partner to Business Managers and the broader Global Markets leadership team, the Director, Global Markets Business Management - Operations provides leadership across operational, administrative, and governance processes, acting as a central point of coordination across trading, sales, technology, risk, compliance, and operations. The role is focused on driving execution excellence, operational consistency, and strong governance, supporting a scalable and well‑controlled Global Markets operating environment.

How You’ll Succeed
- Technology Operations and Vendor Management: You will lead vendor onboarding and risk assessment activities for the business. This includes completing intake documentation, Third Party Risk Assessments (TPRAs), and Inherent Risk Assessments (IRAs), as well as coordinating contingency and exit planning in partnership with Business Managers and key stakeholders. You will oversee business managed technology solutions, ensuring ongoing administration, maintenance, and effective coordination with Technology partners to support seamless technology operations. Additionally, you will act as an administrator for Global Markets platforms and shared resources, such as Same Day Estimate processes, core Business Management shared folders, and Global Markets SharePoint sites. You will also serve as a business administrator for internal applications, managing access and usage, and coordinating with relevant support teams to ensure operational efficiency.
- Governance & Access Coordination: You will execute business control and access reviews, including managing user access, overseeing shared folder and SharePoint permissions, and conducting contract-related reviews. You will also coordinate and follow up on policies and procedures, regulatory trading frameworks such as Volcker-related documentation, and mandatory training and attestation programs to ensure timely completion and alignment with organizational standards.
- Management Reporting & Analysis: You will collaborate with the business, Business Managers, and Finance to develop Management and Board Presentations. You will prepare Quarterly Operational Risk Dashboards and conduct analysis, as well as create other business presentations as required to support effective communication and decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement: You will leverage your strong interpersonal and communication skills to work alongside the business, including the Head of GM Business Management, on a day-to-day basis. You will establish and maintain effective relationships with partners across CIBC, including Operations, Finance, Risk Management, Technology, and other corporate governance groups, as needed to address and resolve day-to-day issues and successfully deliver on business initiatives.
Who You Are
- You can demonstrate experience in Global Markets or Capital Markets, ideally in Business Management, Business Operations, or a front‑office adjacent role, with a minimum of 5 years of working experience. Experience with CIBC’s operating policies, standards, and organizational structure is an asset.
- You have university degree in Commerce or Business Management/Accounting Designation. MBA, CA, CFA, or equivalent, is preferred.
- You’re an analytical problem solver. You demonstrate strong problem-solving, analytical, judgment, and change implementation skills.
- You have hands-on operational expertise. You have direct experience with operational execution, including vendor onboarding, risk assessments, technology, access controls, and business administration activities.
- You collaborate effectively with diverse teams. You partner across front office, technology, risk, compliance, and operations to drive execution across multiple workstreams.
- You support senior leadership. You have experience preparing executive-level materials and presentations for senior leaders.
- You’re organized and results-driven. You manage competing priorities, own day-to-day execution, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
- You’re an influential communicator. You have strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- You build strong relationships. You establish and maintain productive partnerships with business partners, peers, and a wide variety of stakeholders, including Finance, Middle Office, Risk Management, and Technology.
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment. You effectively manage deadlines while juggling multiple complex priorities, and you adapt quickly to shifting needs and changing direction.
- You’re proficient with technology. You have experience using Microsoft 365 tools such as Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
