About the role

Your Opportunity:

Come join our amazing Central Zone Rural Team as a Team Leader in Stettler! As a member of the Seniors Health management team, the Team Lead is responsible for planning, organizing, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of their teams. This position includes recruitment, supervision, education and performance management of Health Care Aides in the Home Care environment. The Team Leader also provides nursing services within the scope of the LPN.

Description:

Supervises Health Care Aides. Providing guidance and supportive mentoring for delegated procedures. Evaluating care given according to Health Care Aide competencies. Reviews charting and related client care. Suggests areas of improvement. Conducts performance conversations. Monitors time and attendance. Reviews and approves mileage claims and time sheets. Collaborates with external partners to resolve concerns and promote strong working relationships. Reviews and investigates safety reports submitted by staff. Communicates trends and actions in safety reporting to the whole management team as appropriate. Co-ordinates scheduling. Assigning staff based on appropriate skills, assessed needs of clients and required scheduling provisions. Investigates concerns raised due to scheduling needs or unsafe home environments. Co-ordinates orientation and staff development. Facilitates providing new staff orientation. Organizes and provides in-services. Oversight of ongoing education. Signs off delegated procedures for the Health Care Aide within the scope of the Licensed Practical Nurse. Assists Health Care Aides in obtaining certification with registering for programs and offering tutoring and proctor services. Coaches and mentors staff needing improvement in knowledge or skill development. Recruitment and selection including need for replacement of positions, posting and approvals in RMS, interviews and hiring. Contributes to the team. Reports on caseload and staffing in a timely manner. Participates in team meetings. Promoting and supporting AHS values. Provides service coverage in absence of the Care Manager. Completes leadership rounding and brings insights back to the team.

Required Qualifications:

Licensed Practical Nurse Diploma or certificate required. Active registration in good standing with CLPNA. Minimum of 5 years of LPN experience, preferably in Seniors Health environments.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must have a driver’s license and a reliable vehicle. Must be able to travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a leadership role. Performance management, supervisory skills and experience is an asset. Ability to problem solve, prioritize and organize work effectively with minimum supervision. Effective communication and mentoring skills in a team environment. Knowledge of nursing standards & practice. Ability to actively participate in a collaborative approach in meeting clients' health needs. Positive approach and ability to motivate others.
