As an Outdoor Program Leader, you'll be responsible for implementing and instructing for diverse groups, including day camps, schools, and registered programs in:
- Cross-country skiing
- Snowshoeing
- Ice Biking
- Kicksledding
- Cycling
- Shelter building
- Fire building
- Tandem canoeing (Paddle Canada Certified)
- Orienteering
- GPS navigation
- Archery
- Environmental sciences
- Outdoor based preschool programming
- Drop in and Spontaneous Use programs
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12
- Experience working with the general public, tour groups and children
Skills required for success:
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and safety sensitive environments
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently lead timed programs while multitasking
- Knowledgeable of recreational program objectives, policies and procedures
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with program users and staff
- Skills in the materials and equipment used
- Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies
- Embracing a Culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion
Conditions of Employment:
- Possession of valid Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C certification
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent); You will be required to arrange your own transportation for use while on City business. Where appropriate, you will be reimbursed for expenses related to that travel in accordance with City of Edmonton policy
- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position
Work Environment:
- Evening and weekend work is required
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
