About the role
We are looking for a Human Resources Manager to join our Toronto team while our current Manager goes on maternity leave for ~16 months. </br> </br> As our HR Manager, you will wear many hats and support our teams across Canada, USA and Europe by supporting employee growth, and ensuring our people programs are applied consistently and effectively across the company. An ideal candidate brings strong foundational HR experience, is an excellent communicator, and demonstrates solid judgment and a collaborative mindset. Solving problems, building relationships and supporting leaders will be a key aspect of this position and requires a strategic hand in creating an environment where people can do their best work. This role combines independent ownership of the HR function with close collaboration with leaders across the organization to serve as the first point of contact and create positive people experiences.

Drive the recruitment process for all positions – attracting and retaining the right people who fit the culture and values, liaising with recruitment agencies where needed - Coordinate and lead the onboarding process and new hire orientation for any new team members - Maintain and update job requirements and descriptions for all positions - Effectively plan, design, develop and evaluate HR related initiatives that support organizational strategic goals - Supervise and provide consultation to management on strategic staffing plans, compensation, benefits, training and development and performance management - Manage benefit programs for Canada and USA and act as point of contact for both benefit providers and employees - Take a leadership role in developing a culture that enables employees to perform in accordance with the company’s mission and values - Expertly maintain and oversee company use of HRIS - Plan team events to enhance employee experience and engagement across the global team - Support a positive in-office experience by managing vendor relationships (e.g. lunch program providers), overseeing company swag and materials, and maintaining inventory of office supplies, snacks, and equipment - Implementation and ongoing management of company policies and procedures including monitoring flexible work policies, absences, and vacation practices to ensure consistency - Remain up to date and compliant with labour legislation - Develop and maintain employee handbook - Maintain employee records and documentation - Serve as main point of contact for employee relations, requests, questions, etc. - Liaise with all departments and management as needed

Bachelor’s University/College Degree or equivalent in Human Resources or similar field - 5 years of work experience in Human Resources, including recruiting, reporting, training, performance management and strategy - People oriented and results driven - Experience supporting leadership and driving HR initiatives - Demonstratable experience with Human Resources metrics - Knowledge and experience of HR systems and databases - Knowledge of performance management systems - Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills - Experience building and effectively managing interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company, in various locations - Knowledge of labour laws and HR best practices (Canada and USA)
